Malut Ceremony Video – by Man Piseth
The Malut Ceremony celebrates the birth of the Prophet Mohammed and is the most colorful of the festivals in the Cham community. During it special cakes are baked by the women and these are arranged and decorated into amazing sculptures. They are brought to the mosque in procession and after worship a feast is held. Also during this Ceremony the youngest children receive their first haircut.
This past Spring, one of our University Scholarship Program students, Man Piseth, made a video of parts of this ceremony. It’s presented here for your enjoyment.
